Frequently Asked Questions
Caistor Townscape Heritage Initiative Grant
- Do I have to use a Professional who is registered?
- YES, if the total grant given (not the total project cost) is £15,000 or more, a competent professional who is registered must be used and have specialist conservation experience OR be on the team of people working on the project.
- Are Professional Fees grant eligible?
- YES, they are eligible for the same rate as the grant but only if they are registered and licensed professionals. Additionally, if they supervise the work whilst in progress, inspect the work, and are responsible for certification, it is grant eligible for the full professional fees.
- Can I do anything I want to my building and get a grant?
- NO, it is highly recommended that you contact West Lindsey for any changes to the outside of the building. You may be required to go for planning permission or listed building consent prior to applying for a grant.
- Are planning fees grant eligible?
- YES, if the fees are clearly related to the building and work that is subject of grant.
- Is an Itemised Schedule of Works necessary?
- YES, it makes it much easier and allows all of the contractors to price the same work. Without one, each contractor can give different prices and it is difficult to compare them for quality and accuracy.
- Is routine maintenance grant eligible?
- NO, the grant cannot fund works that are everyday maintenance to the building. Only work that is directly related to structural or building repairs, reinstating architectural heritage details or bringing a vacant space back into use are.
